Environmentally sound product development

Giving & Living's rubber baskets and pots are made of used tires in the Middle East. Every year there is a surplus of approx. 280 million. tires worldwide.

In many parts of the world only a minor percentage of them are recycled into new products or reused in other ways. Used tires a therefore a major problem worldwide. Many times they are thrown out into the countryside, causing significant environmental and health problems. We therefore believe that it is both ethical and practical to reuse the tyre material.

Besides the fact that recycling is positive and environmentally wise, we find it funny to think of that the products have had a previous life on the roads - perhaps first in Europe and later in the Middle East - before they come to Denmark as trendy pots and baskets.

Manual manufacturing = unique products

Handmade products always have their own caractere, and not two rubber jars / pots are exactly alike. However, we try of course to ensure that the sizes of the various types are fairly constant. You should be aware that colors and tread patterns may differ from product to product.

If you want a shiny surface on your rubber jars, you can treat them with tyre polish or silicone spray purchased at gas stations or car accessories shops. Many of the large jars are fitted with handles, so they are easy to move around. It may be useful if you use them for big plants which have to enter in winter time.
